There’s a new neighbor in town and it’s bad news. Well, technically it’s actually good news because I love boba tea, but it’s bad news for my waistline. Have you heard of boba tea (also called Pearl or Bubble Tea)? It’s a sweet drink that was first introduced in Taiwan which combines milk, flavored tea and tapioca pearls, also known as boba. Boba (the dark blackish-brown bubbles) have a soft, chewy consistency similar to that of gummy candy and have to be sucked up using an extra wide straw. Over the past few years boba tea shops, including Tpumps, have been sprouting up all over the Bay Area.
What I love most about Tpumps is that they use freshly brewed premium tea. There are a variety of flavors on the menu such as green apple, coconut, honeydew, marshmallow, salted caramel and guava, to name a few. The flavors can be mixed and matched to your liking. My favorite flavors are Almond Milk Tea and Peach, Passion Green tea. But the best part??? They cook the boba in honey and only serve it hot and fresh, which means they are so soft and sweet. See their full menu, here.
There are several locations around the Bay Area and I highly suggest paying them a visit:
// 985 E Hillsdale Blvd. Foster City, CA 94404
// 1118 Burlingame Ave. Burlingame, CA 94010
// 1916 Irving St. San Francisco, CA 94122
Happy summer, I’ll see you in line!
